ABOUT THE WHITE RIBBON CAMPAIGN
White Ribbon is an international symbol of activism against domestic and gender-based violence towards women and safe motherhood. Since its founding by men in Canada in 1991 representations of White Ribbon now exist in over 60 countries around the world.
The white ribbon symbolizes a personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.
Additionally, celebrities such as Salma Hayek, David Beckham, Stella McCartney, Sir Paul McCartney, Harry Styles, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Karl Lagerfeld and many other support the cause by wearing a white ribbon.
Since its founding in 2014 White Ribbon Ukraine has intensified its activities, as seen through the adoption of new legislation criminalizing domestic violence in December of 2017. White Ribbon in Ukraine is a part of the think-tank network of the Collegium of Anna Yaroslavna East.
Our awareness work aims to gather leaders of public opinion, experts and decision makers under our concept of #ChangeHelpPrevent. We want to #Change for better the lives of victims of domestic violence, especially mothers and children, by supporting necessary legislative and institutional changes which have an impact on changing the social aspects and ideas of domestic violence. We want to #Help to all victims of DV by implementing our programs (page 6-7). But, most importantly, we want to #Prevent women, especially mothers and children, from been trapped in violent and abusive circumstances by creating educational & research centers for women where they can pass short certificate courses and get new professional skills for finding a new job or opening their own business
